Drew Barrymore has nothing but fond memories of her brief relationship with Luke Wilson, explaining that they were just “hanging out” and having “fun.”

On Thursday’s episode of her show The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress opened up to Kate Hudson about her love life. She explained that when she was seeing Wilson in 1999, “It was an open relationship. We were young!” While tabloids reported at the time that the two were dating, not many details were known about their relationship at the time. Hudson joked, “I’ve been there with a Wilson, too,” confirming publicly for the first time that she dated Luke Wilson’s brother Owen. Hudson and Owen first met on the set of their film You, Me and Dupree in 2006, but have never confirmed their relationship despite the rumors.

Barrymore added that casually dating Luke back then was “so fun” because “when you’re young, it’s low stakes,” she explained. “We’re just having fun. We’re all playing, acting, hanging out. You’re not taking it all so seriously, and it was fun, and we had the best time!” That relationship is also how the talk show host and Hudson first became friends. Hudson was filming the 2003 film Alex and Emma with Luke, who introduced them at the time. The Fabletics founder said she was totally starstruck, explaining, “I mean, for any young girl my age, it was like…Drew Barrymore!

Since dating the Wilson brothers, both women have gone on to find love elsewhere. Hudson recently got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Danny Fujikawa with whom she shares three-year-old Rani Rose. She is also mom to 10-year-old Bingham Hawn Bellamy, her son with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy, and 18-year-old Ryder Robinson from her former marriage to Chris Robinson. Barrymore also has two daughters of her own, nine-year-old Olive and seven-year-old Frankie, from her prior marriage to Will Kopelman. The pair divorced in 2016, an experience Barrymore has said she took “really hard.”
