49ers coach Kyle Shanahan doesn’t both telling Jimmy Garoppolo how he feels about him. And the 49ers quarterback wouldn’t have it any other way.

As the two prepare for the biggest game of their lives in Sunday’s Super Bowl LIV, they revealed Thursday the biggest reason why their relationship has worked so well for the past three seasons: They don’t much share their feelings with each other.

“That’s one thing I appreciate about Kyle,” the soft spoken Garoppolo told reporters in Miami. “That’s kind of the relationship we have. There are some things that are unspoken. Whether we’re thinking the same thing or seeing the same thing on the field, there’s no words needed. I think it makes us a great tandem.

“I love the relationship we have,” Garoppolo added. “It’s very honest and genuine. That’s all you can ask for.”Shanahan, who’s teamed with Garoppolo to win 21 of their 26 games together, couldn’t be happier with their arrangement.

“Jimmy’s just fun because there’s no BS with Jimmy. You don’t have to play any games with him,” Shanahan said. “You don’t have to sit there and tell him how much you care about him, he knows I do. And he doesn’t have to tell me anything like that either. We’re alright. We just live each day together. Every day’s kind of the same.”

Of course, they could be 60 minutes away from having a whole lot to talk about come Sunday night.
