Jalen Hurts has evolved as a passer throughout his second season in the NFL (first full year as a starting quarterback), learning from the best in becoming a better quarterback. Hurts has completed 67.5% of his passes for 340 yards with three touchdowns to just one interception over his last two games, tallying a 108.3 passer rating and averaging 8.5 yards per attempt.

What's been the secret to Hurts improving as a thrower over the course of the season? His relationship with Peyton Manning has certainly helped. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback recently described his relationship with Manning and the Manning family, picking Peyton and Eli's brains on how to improve as a quarterback.

"He's just really detail-oriented," Hurts said Wednesday. "Very detailed. You talk about doing walkthroughs, he's a guy that everything was really full speed until the snap.

"He was going through checks. The amount of detail he has in the offseason when he's with his receivers. He had scripted plays out there. He had special routines. I admired that. I hope to continue to carry that on."

Hurts admitted he receives tape from Manning from the ManningCast and "detail" on how to break down plays around the league. While Hurts won't actually commit to being on the ManningCast, he won't hide how he soaks in any information Manning gives him.

"(Just) little things that I can learn from, pick their brain," Hurts said. "I value the Mannings and the relationship I have with them."

Hurts continues to thrive in his second year, completing 62.2% of his passes for 2,159 yards with 13 touchdowns to five interceptions (91.9 rating), while rushing for 549 yards and five touchdowns (5.7 yards per carry). Hurts has improved his on-target throws (throws to intended receivers) from 60.7% to 70.1%, and his bad throws (poor throws per attempt) have decreased from 26.7% to 13.3% (fourth-lowest in the NFL for passers with a minimum of 250 attempts).

Where Hurts has really impacted the Eagles is in the red zone, where he's completed 62.5% of his passes with 10 touchdowns to zero interceptions. (He's second in the NFL in red-zone passer rating at 113.9 for quarterbacks with a minimum of 30 attempts.) Hurts also has all five of his rushing scores in the red zone.

Hurts has improved his game over the course of the year, forcing the Eagles to reconsider possibly taking a quarterback with their projected three first-round picks in the 2022 draft. He may become the next franchise quarterback if he keeps working with the Mannings.
